Drawn probably by the unidentified draughtsman associated with the west end and dome (fl. c.1685-91). Datable 1685-86. Implied scale, 3 ft to 1 inch.\par \par The careful ink outlines and the style of numbering find comparisons in WRE/3/3/13 and WRE/3/4/4-7, 12 and 14, all of which can assigned to the same hand. The rendering of the scrolls of the consoles as parallel lines in side view is matched in the scroll of the upper window frame in WRE/3/3/13. \par \par The door surround has a straight cornice rather than the pediment found on two early elevations at All Souls (Geraghty 2007, nos.83, 84). Omitting the sloping cornices of the pediment reduced the projection of the frame on each side of the door and allowed Wren to fit the surround between the adjacent pilasters. The door opening is marked \lquote\i 12\i0\rquote ft wide and 27 ft 6 inches high, the executed dimensions. In the fabric, an extra 1 ft was added between the pilasters and the door opening on each side when the central intercolumniation was widened from 9 to 11 ft. \par \par Forward breaks in the plinth of the frame have been erased. These breaks are absent from the lower frame of the door in Hawksmoor\rquote s two studies for the lower portico wall, drawn to the same scale; WRE/3/3/10 and 11.\cf0\b\f1\par }
