Datable 1678. Drawn by the unidentified draughtsman (fl.1675-c.1687) with his numbered scale across the base of the plan (4 ft to 1 inch; 10 ft = 64 mm).\par \par The plan shows transept end-wall with revised bay divisions and a 10-ft opening after Wren had redesigned the external surround. The inscribed dimensions are limited to the pilasters and set-backs on the internal wall and agree with the fabric. Wren gained an extra foot for the central bay by narrowing the space between the outer pilasters by 6 inches on each side to 6 ft 6 inches (marked as 3 ft and twice 1 ft 9 inches); compare WRE/2/2/6 and WRE/2/4/9. The plan corresponds closely to the internal elevation, WRE/2/4/10, which is the earliest to show the wider opening. Wren made further adjustments to the frame of the door before construction in 1683-84; see WRE/2/4/12. \cf0\b\f1\par }
