Cardinal Newman died on 11th August 1890. This service, the culmination of a year of special centenary commemorations, celebrates his life. It seeks to show John Henry Newman as a servant of the Word of God who calls Christians today to a deeper unity centred on the Word.
Organised by the main Christian Churches, the service reflects Newman's remarkable pilgrimage of faith, and brings together representaatives from the City, Parliament, the Judiciary and the world of Education in tribute to the diversity of his interests and concerns.
The music is provided by the Choirs of St. Paul's and Westminster Cathedrals under the direction of:
