Drawn scale, 4 ft to 1 inch.\par \par The shading in fine, closely ruled pen lines and the thorough ruled pencil preparatory drawing suggest Gribelin's hand rather than Hawksmoor's (compare WRE/3/1/13 and WRE/3/2/10), although the untidy washed shading is unlike Gribelin's (compare WRE/3/4/17). In its outline technique, the drawing resembles the half-section through the choir, tenatively assigned to Edward Strong; see WRE/3/1/16. The scale bar, bottom left, is numbered in reverse in an unfamiliar hand. \par \par The drawing conforms to the fabric in its dimensions and profiles up to the head of the window but not in the drops of husks on the panels of the internal piers, a level reached in the summer of 1688, when Edward Pearce was paid for the carving of \lquote great Leaves\rquote on the inside and outside of the south transept window (Wren Society 14, p.54).\cf0\b\f1\par }
