The drawing depicts the crucifixion. Jesus is at the centre, on the cross. Below the cross are three female figures (possibly Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Younger and Joses and Salome) and several male figures. To the right of the scene, two Roman soldiers are dicing for Jesus' cloak and another watches the crucifixion. Above the scene are three angels, one holding a cloth which shows the face of Jesus. The scene is surrounded by a classical arch which has an inscription in the centre of the arch: "SPQR", meaning Senatus Populusque Romanaum or the Senate and People of Rome. There is a motto at the top of the drawing " Unto God only be honour and glory".
