Mervyn Macartney - General Papers and Correspondence

Mervyn Macartney's papers that do not belong to the sub-groups St Paul's Commission, St Paul's Committee or the Works Sub-Committee. These include personal correspondence, personal accounts and scripts for lectures. A small number of these files were continued by Walter Godfrey Allen after the retirement of Macartney and therefore extend beyond the dates Macartney's surveyorship. It was decided to leave these files with the Macarntney papers when they relate predominantly to preservation work to 1930.

Access is strictly by appointment only with the architectural archivist. Material dating from 1990 to the present day is not currently available for public consultation. Some records are subject to a closure period of 75 years under the Data Protection Act.
