- BeschreibungThe designed monument depicts a tall, circular, fluted column on a podium atop a raised plinth reached by stairs. The figure of Britannia stands on the column, wearing a plumed helmet and holding a spear in her right hand and a shield in her left. The base of the column is encircled by laurel wreaths. A bust of Admiral Lord Nelson sits atop the plinth and is accompanied by four angels, one on each corner of the plinth, representing Victory. Each angel holds a wreath and a palm branch. An inset on the podium depicts the figure of Britannia enthroned on the sea and holding a trident and the Britannia shield. An angel Victory holds a wreath over the head of Britannia while another angel flies above, playing a trumpet. In the water below, the figure of Neptune rides three horses and merpeople surround the throne.
