The photographs cover various stages of Mervyn Macartney's preservation work including the repair of the piers withing the cathedral and the strengthening of the dome. Photographs show the original tie bars between piers, fractured stonework, repairs to tie bars, tie-rods (both originals and replacements), fissures in the walls of the library and details of carved stonework in the library, repairs to the Dome, including the replacement of the upper chain, strengthening the inner and outer wall and the inclusion of diagonal bars bwteen the inner and outer walls to help load bearing. Photographs also detail the process of repairing the capitals and freizes of the piers, particularly showing damaged capitals and freizes and stonemasons at work during the repairs. There are also photographs of the architrave and cornice and the damage done to stonework by corroded iron cramps. Specifically featured are Piers E, F and G. \par }
