Cope made of gold silk with shields showing the Dean and Chapter arms, IHS, and Bishop Creighton's family arms, 1896. Worn at the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service for Queen Victoria 1897.
A letter in the Chapter Archive claims that the material from which this cope was made was originally intended for the Coronation robe of the Empress Frederick of Prussia (the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria). The death of Emperor Frederick III of Prussia after a 99 day reign meant that the coronation robe was not required by his wife.
